Chris Maest
Chris started in the gun business in 1979, when he attended the Colorado School of trade for gunsmithing. He graduated in 1982, then spent the next two years as an apprentice gunsmith. He joined Krieghoff International in 1984, at which time he spent several months in Germany being trained at the Krieghoff factory. Krieghoff saw the potential in Chris and made him the factory Service Manager when he returned. Chris was the first gunsmith in the U.S for Krieghoff International. Chris ran the service department at Krieghoff International from 1985-1994.
Todd Beinhauer
Todd started in the gun business in 1988, when he attended the Pennsylvania School of Gunsmithing. He graduated in 1990, at which time he joined Krieghoff International as a gunsmith. In 1997, Todd joined Clay Target Sports and has been a key team member who has helped Clay Target Sports be one of Krieghoff’s largest dealers.
Clay Target Sports
In 1994, Chris left Krieghoff International to start Clay Target Sports. Clay Target Sports has focused on the highest quality products and services from the beginning. Upgraded wood and fitting are two ways that the sales experience is tailored to the customer. We try to have three upgraded wood choices for each new K-80 or K-20. This way, the customer can pick the wood that he/she prefers. The fitting process is another way we offer a value added service. Most fitting changes (ie length of pull changes, pad changes, cast on or off) are included at no extra charge with new gun sales.
Frequently asked Questions
Q: I see a new K-80 or K-20 listed on the website, but I do not like the wood. Can you change the wood for me?
A: Yes: We can change the wood to another dimension, or can change it to the same dimension, just something you like better.
Q: I see a new K-80 or K-20 listed on the website, but I want different barrels. Can you change the barrels for me?
A: Yes: We can change the barrels to another length or configuration.
Q: I see a pre-owned gun on your website, and would like to change the wood and or barrels. Can you do this?
A: Sometimes: This is harder than doing it on new guns. We stock a lot of wood and barrels for new guns, and have limited for pre-owned. We will do it when possible.
Q: Do pre-owned guns come with a case?
A: Yes: All pre-owned gun are sold with case.
Q: Do you offer a warranty on your pre-owned guns?
A: Yes: we offer a one year warranty on all pre-owned guns?
Q: Why don’t you post your guns on auction websites like other dealers?
A: We have chosen not to post our guns on general auction websites because we are not a general gun dealer and we do not think the auction websites do our products justice.
Q: What is the dollar value of the upgraded wood you offer on your new guns?
A: We upgrade the wood free of charge. The dollar value is $800-$1600 depending on the gun.
Q: Do you take trades?
A: Yes, we do! We are often asked this question because shooters do not see many of our trades listed on our website. We sell all of the Krieghoff, Kolar and Zoli trades we receive and have a sub-dealer sell the other brands. This helps us to remain focused experts on the brands we sell.
